Fabulous

So far this week our jeep has broken down and the garage door has broken. I can't wait to see what the weekend will bring!

How dumb do you think I am? Don't answer that...

Aidan hates eating meat. I've tried all kinds but she refuses to eat more than a bite or two. I start to freak out about it and then I remember that lots of people go their whole lives without eating meat. Sad, deprived people.

Anyways, Aidan obviously thinks that I am less than bright because she has started trying to trick me into thinking that she's eating meat.
First she slowly brings the piece of meat up to her mouth, maintaining eye contact at all times. She already knows that people don't look you in the eye when they're lying. Apparently she's been watching Law & Order when I'm not home. Then she licks the meat and smiles sweetly at me.

Then ever so slowly, never blinking, she brings her hand down and then hides the meat in her chair. Then she smiles at me and throws up her hands to signal that she's all done.

This kid is trouble.

Good Deal Alert

If you have a baby with chubby short feet like mine you know that shoe shopping is not easy. So I usually end up splurging for Robeez because I can't fit ANY shoe with a strap around Aidan's feet. I went to Dillards today and they have ALL of their Robeez shoes in the little kid shoe section half off. I've never seen them so cheap anywhere. They had really cute pairs for boys and girls. This is the pair I got Aidan (to clarify, that baby isn't Aidan).

OPI Uh Oh

Does anyone have any idea how to get nail polish out of carpet and painted wood? I've used up almost all of the nail polish remover. Aidan thought it would be fun to redecorate by dropping an entire bottle of I'm Not Really a Waitress all over our bathroom and hall carpet. Where were you? I know you're thinking. I was taking a shower okay? I'm selfish.

Naked and covered in books...

...Sounds like my idea of a good time.

Hostage Crisis: Day 5

Aidan has slowly but surely taken over the house. I can never sleep when Ben is gone, and our fire alarm has been malfunctioning and going off in the middle of the night so I am running on almost no rest (and no it's not the battery). You know that episode of Friends where Phoebe beats her fire alarm to death? I'm considering it. I am officially waving the white flag! Come home Ben!

I'm so glad I'm alone right now...

I just jumped up and down like a lunatic!! Go Michael!!

8 gold medals or shopping without screaming? Hmmm...

Aidan had the best day of her life today. Since I was going on my third day of Ben being gone my sister and brother in law offered to take Aidan off my hands for the better part of the day. I bought pants, I did laundry, I read Entertainment Weekly. Ben and Lindsay (yes, my brother in law's name is Ben too) took Aidan to the lake AND the zoo. Aidan ran in the door (literally) and fell asleep about an hour and a half later. Which means she will probably wake me up at 3am but at this point I don't care. I'll probably be up that late rooting for Michael Phelps anyway.

Fortunately I sent my camera with them to document their good time.

Olympic Fever

If you didn't get to see the opening ceremonies last night you missed probably the best one ever. See if you can find some of it online. It was soooo cool! I am a complete Olympic nerd and I always watch as much of it as possible. My favorite parts of last night were the 2,008 drummers who were SO in sync and the moving blocks that I totally thought were mechanical until the end when people popped their heads out and waved. I will say this, all that dedication and precision did make me think that we better not tick off China.

This is Aidan's first Olympics so I hope she grows up loving it as much as I always did.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pack n' Play

I'm only a week late posting these. The Kingcade's were sweet enough to loan out their pool for a few hours last weekend and we had so much fun. Except for the having to wear a swimsuit part. The girls are really starting to be able to play with each other without inflicting bodily harm. And by play I mean kind of ignore each other.

I had a really good time at the Blogger Bash last night! It was nice to see some people in person that I usually only have contact with online. That sounded reaaaally nerdy. Anyways, I think the Party Ninjas will be a huge success.

Solicited Advice

Aidan is sporting an uncomfortable face rash as the result of some major teething (or maybe she's been trying on makeup at Sephora without using a q-tip, who knows). Anyways she is mighty uncomfortable. What do you put on your baby's face when they have the drool rash?

I am mortified

You have got to be joking...

I went to go buy Aidan some blocks yesterday. Blocks apparently are the most expensive and elusive toy on the market these days.

What they do have plenty of are dolls that look like they've already had botox and collagen injections although they are apparently supposed to be in high school.

I knew about the disgusting Bratz dolls but this stopped me in my tracks:

America's Next Top Model dolls?!?!?! Tyra you have gone too far. At least Barbie always had a job or commitments like being a princess or fairy or something. Now your little girls can buy a doll celebrating reality show contestants who pour beer in each others weaves and leave their kids at home so they can give them a "better life". You could you know go to college or get a job at McDonald's or you can decide that America's Next Top Model is your best chance for success. Barbie looks pretty smart and modest in comparison. Barbie is the new chemistry set.

Aidan's already growing up too fast.

She has her first prom updo.

And a cell phone.
