Most sedate New Years ever...

Well the Tinius trio are having a rocking New Years Eve. We're cooking a frozen pizza and hope to have Aidan asleep by 8:30pm. Hey it's midnight somewhere right?

We used up our big night out for the year last Thursday on our 4 year anniversary. It's hard to believe that we have been married for four years. We went to The Melting Pot for the first time. It was so much fun. Cheese, Meat, and Chocolate. Sounds like my idea of a good time. We had a food hangover the next morning. I actually felt sick, but it was so worth it. Ben bought me an American Airlines travel voucher so that next year we will celebrate somewhere fabulous.

Ben and I are going to see if we can both make it to midnight without falling asleep. We are CRAAAAZY.

Time to break out the fireplace bumpers

Aidan hasn't really been rolling over very much. She was pretty content to just kind of lay there and occasionally turn on her side. Well Thursday she started rolling and she hasn't stopped since. Ben walked out of the room for a second and when he came back she had rolled from her play yard to the fireplace. She now rolls CONSTANTLY. Of course I'm very proud of her but we have entered a new level of parenting. It's so weird that this tiny baby now has to be stopped from getting into things. Her favorite thing right now is to roll under the Christmas tree and start tearing at the wrapped presents.

The best time I've had at the mall this week...

We took Aidan to see Santa this morning. I highly recommend the set up at Northpark mall. No lines, good decorations, and the proceeds go to charity. I was worried that she might cry when we gave her to Santa. She has been a little leery of older people. She's such an ageist. But she loved him. She gave his beard a good yank and it was very cute. We walked by a little while later and a baby was having a meltdown. I like how there is a box of tissues on Santa's chair. Obviously the meltdowns are pretty common.

SOS

If you don't hear from us in a few days, please send help to Penn Square Mall. We are venturing out for our first Christmas shopping trip with a 6 month old. I have never had such a late start on my holiday shopping. Hmm I wonder what could possibly be different about this year?

Weight update

We went to the doctor yesterday and Aidan weighs 16 lbs! She was on the 50th percentile on all of her measurements. She's just where she needs to be. She got her first flu shot at the doctor and was not a happy camper. She didn't sleep at all last night and had a fever. I hate that these shots that are supposed to keep her healthy make her feel so crummy. They're not great for Ben and I either.

Just so you know we do understand the danger in sitting your 6 month old in a tangle of Christmas lights but if you get a cute picture it's worth the risk right?

Back in time...

I would not have lasted an hour in medieval times. I hate not having electricity!!! We lost power on Sunday night then got it back Monday morning then lost it for most of the day again. Today we had power but our TV and internet were down. I am ashamed to admit that it makes me anxious to not be able to check e-mail etc. We have been a lot luckier than most people so I can't complain too much.

Also while we're on the subject of electronics and entertainment I would just like to say that when I agreed to give up cable there was no writer's strike. I feel that I was misled.

Hoping the power holds out....

Last night we managed to take Aidan's picture for our Christmas card before the power went out. This picture is pretty indicative of how our photo shoot went down...

In the end we did manage to get a few card worthy shots. Aidan is very photogenic but she can't really sit up that well and hates being on her stomach...so you see the logistical difficulties inherent in this situation. I also turned into somewhat of a stage mom about the whole thing, and I'm not proud of it. YOU'RE IN MY LIGHT!!

After a few fights and and a few tears (mostly mine) we managed to get something we were happy with. So if you get a Christmas card from us please appreciate the hours of blood, sweat, and tears that went into this production. Happy Holidays!

Happy Birthday Ben!

Today is Ben's 28th birthday. It's the one month a year when he's two years older than me. We went out last night to celebrate at Mushashi's and had a wonderful time (although we may be too old to do 9pm dinner reservations anymore).

Although Ben hates making a big thing about his birthday (or really even letting anyone know it's his birthday), it's my blog and I can do whatever I want. I am so lucky to be married to the most wonderful man in the world. Three reasons I love him (in no particular order)

1. He has done such an amazing job with Aidan while I'm at work or in class. There are few fathers who spend as much one on one time with their children as Ben does. He never complains and you would think he had been doing it for years.

2. He's a good cook, and I am not. Actually it's more that I don't have the patience for cooking and the kitchen looks like a bomb exploded when I'm through.

3. He's my best friend and we think we are the most hilarious people alive. (I also appreciate that he knows when I'm being sarcastic and doesn't look appalled at half of the things I say)

6 months...

Aidan is 6 months old. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. All of those annoying people who told me a hundred times a day that it would fly by were right (sorry, I called you annoying). I can't believe our baby girl has gone from this...

Someone was born on the wrong side of the bed

to this....

She did a lot of frowning in the beginning, she get's that from her Dad

to this...

Do I have something on my chin?

Happy half-birthday Aidan Blythe. I love you in a completely sappy Johnson and Johnson commercial kind of way.

Just because she's cute...

I love this picture of Aidan and her still to be named Tinius grandfather. (to clarify, his name is Mike but his cute grandfather nickname has not been finalized yet). Aidan continues to pack on the weight at an astounding rate. Heh, rhyming. Her rolls are so adorable. I especially enjoy her new absence of wrists. I hope she enjoys this rare period in a woman's life.
