The happiest day of Aidan's life...so far.

I let Aidan have some macaroni and cheese the other day and I don't think she has ever been happier. I handed her the bowl and she said Ooooooooo! Then she laughed once she took a bite because it was so awesome.

Speaking of food, I feel like I'm in a rut with what I feed her. I try to give her only healthy foods (besides the mac and cheese) but sometimes I have no clue what to give her especially when she goes to Sonshine School. I feel like she's eating the same thing every day. What do you feed a 15 month old?

I totally feel you. I could send you a book about what I feed Cason...but I won't. She probably doesn't mind eating the same thing everyday though. Cason ate a lot of toast with melted cheese, bananas, strawberries, applesauce and yogurt. I think at that age he also ate a whole grain blueberry waffle for breakfast everyday. When he was 14 months, he learned how to drink out of a straw WHICH CHANGED MY LIFE and then I gave him yogurt smoothies.

I have a general rule that I'm pretty strict with what he eats at home so when we go out, if he wants to eat a plate of french fries, so be it.

We're having the same problem with being in a food rut... at home, he'll eat diced up chicken, rice, etc. Basically whatever we're eating. At first I tried sending those kinds of things with him to daycare but apparently he ignored them and only ate his snacks. So now we send pureed veggies and fruits, and he'll actually eat those. But the only veggies he really likes pureed are sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots. So before long he'll be orange. :)

I don't know what to feed a 15 year old. What I DO know is that she is too cute for words.

Are you sure she had never had mac & cheese before? I can't imagine her Aunta letting her go that long without it!

hi, I know *of* you from oc and have a 16 mo old of my own so I've kinda stalked your blog for awhile now cause it's fun to see what other little girls are up to! (/confession!) anyway, I feel compelled to comment because I felt totally lost a few weeks ago in this same dilemma and thought I'd share some great solutions I've found (not that it ever goes away--just yesterday I had a mild panic attack about her supper...haha).

the first good advice I heard is to overall not stress about it. when we stopped feeding her "baby food" (purees) I got worried that she wasn't getting any vitamins since in comparison she wasn't eating nearly any fruits or veggies. and even now she hardly gets veggies! but I just try to give her a little bit of every food group at each meal. some examples of foods: plain yogurt, cheerios, grapes, berries, cooked frozen peas, scrambled eggs, bananas, cubed cheese, pieces of bread, crackers (+ peanut butter), goldfish, applesauce, canned pears & peaches, rice with tomato sauce, pasta, etc (oh and she loves mac and cheese too!). she'd rather feed herself so I try to make sure she has some kind of finger food at each meal, but I still insist on feeding her the messy stuff like rice, applesauce, & yogurt.

good luck and don't stress!

I say you feed a 15 month old anything she wants. There is cheese in macaroni, right? That's healthy!

I realize I am a little late in commenting, but you know...

Anyway, my one year old also goes to a "mom's day out program" and I send him with this great new little thing Lunchables has come out with: They are called Lunchable Jr's (I think). Anyway, the ham, turkey, etc. is already cut up, the crackers are smaller...everything's bite sized for little tykes! And a bigger bonus - they are sold in packages of two!

I use all of the recipes off bemomalicious.com . My kids love all the spices and herbs too. Tonight we are eating a lentil soup. They love the beans.
A good snack is cucumbers and carrots. And if you give them some ranch, they think it is super fun to dip. I also got plain yogurt and fresh berries of sorts. I blended that with some ice and a bit of sugar. It made good smoothies that later froze to taste like a yummy sherbert. They eat a lot of cereal, omlets, bread and butter. Fresh fruit almost everyday. My kids love broccoli with cheese melted on it. They also love tacos, but i use elk meat. haha, because i live in wyoming. I make a lot of stews (with elk meat but you can use beef) Hope this helps a little. I am pretty strict about what they eat. Love you. Good luck.
