Little Ranger

This is one of those outfits that I held up to my newborn and thought she will never be big enough to wear this. It seemed so huge! And now she is almost too big for it. She has been changing so much over the past couple of weeks. She's perfected her crawling and is trying to walk. She can say things that sound like Mama, Dada, and Duck. She is trying to share her pacifier and Cheerios with us (no thanks). She has also developed a distinctive sense of humor and seems to try and entertain us. Oh and have I mentioned her fiery temper? Cause it's there. We have a full blown little person on our hands.

Week in Review

And what an up and down week it was. This should have been our first clue...

Aidan NEVER falls asleep on her own. You know those babies who you lay down in their cribs and they fall asleep? Not happening here. So when I turned around to find her asleep on the floor I should have known she was getting sick.

I was already sick I had a fever for 4 days and then I FINALLY caved and went to the doctor and he told me I wasn't sick. I really wanted to punch him in the face. I think his diagnosis had more to do with the fact that I was the last appointment of the day.

So then Aidan got sick and started running a fever (it's almost like she caught it from someone in her family...wouldn't that be crazy)

Then just to prove my doctor wrong I got really really sick with a sudden stomach flu and it was bad bad bad bad. But I was vindicated, and vindication is always sweet.

Fortunately the week started off and ended well with visits from Ben's Abilene pals and Morgandi.

2!!!

Aidan is very shy about displaying her teeth so I thought I would post the proof that there are really two in there. Teething is no fun and because Aidan has started late it's going to be no fun for a little longer than usual. Sometimes it feels like we're in the first few months of parenting again.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for her 1st birthday in a matter of weeks. While she won't remember the first few b-days I feel like it's a good idea to try and do a good job now so I can practice for when she's older and gets mad when I ruin her birthday (it's bound to happen). I am attempting to make her cake which is sure to end in tears. Oh, and we're not even talking a complicated cake, the simple act of making a round 2 layer cake is enough to give me nervous tummy. Mandy has offered to help me and I am holding her to that promise. I may end up running to Crest and buying a Dora cake if things go south.

But Dahhd I wanted a car...

I'm looking for cakes for Aidan's 1st birthday and came across this...

That pretty much sums up the world we live in. Happy 16th birthday, now you can go hang out with Hugh Hefner. You know what I did on my 16th birthday? Well to be honest I can't remember, but I know I didn't have aspirations to exploit myself.

1 errand...2 pet peeves.

Today as I went to pick up Aidan's prescription allergy medicine (sigh) I encountered 2 pet peeves that make me irrationally crazy and I thought I'd share them with you. These pet peeves are specific to me and don't make the perpetrators bad people (unlike people who send their unattended middle schoolers to the mall and people who explain the plots of movies during the movie).

1. I do not know why but when people refer to salsa as hot sauce it drives me up the wall. I guess it's descriptive, but as an avid fan of the Tex-Mex...Okie-Mex. I cannot abide this. Salsa is salsa and hot sauce is hot sauce.

2. This is dumb but I cannot handle when you're spelling your name and people say A as in Adam or B as in bear etc. It drives me nuts. See? Irrational. Part of it stems from the fact that I used to answer phones for a living, I was a professional phone answerer. Imagine the snootiest voice imaginable going ...P as in Paul, A as in Apple...ALL DAY LONG, really slowly, as if you couldn't possibly grasp the concept of the alphabet even though you are a college graduate, and then you will understand. Ever since I acquired the name Tinius people are always like Pinius as in Paul?...and then I fight it as long as possible and say t T TT!!!!! and then I have to give in and say something stupid like T as in Tiger.

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a wonderful 1st Mother's Day weekend. Friday night we went out to dinner at Charleston's with my mother and my Nana. Ben thought it would be funny to let Aidan lick a lemon. Aidan thought it would be better to eat the lemon. She loved it, it was so weird.

On Sunday morning Ben woke me up to give me this...

...a beautiful necklace with Aidan's birthstone, a pearl. I wasn't sure I would like something with pearls, when I first realized what her birthstone would be, but this is perfect! I love it so much.

Ben's parents came into town for Mother's Day and brought Aidan a really cute outfit. We went to Texas Roadhouse after church and it was yummy. We let Aidan try one of the sweet rolls and she hated that but loves lemon.

I had a great Mother's Day!

Our sweet little weirdo...

This is Aidan's funny face, for lack of a better description. We should really call it her Aubrie Ross face, because it used to the be the face she would make every time Aubrie came over. Now the face is appearing in other situations. She usually does it when we are laughing at something, which makes me wonder if this is how I look when I laugh.

Excuse my incredibly loud laugh throughout this video. I don't get out much.

First ZooTrip pics...

On Saturday we loaded up and took Aidan to the zoo for the first time. We went with Matt and Mandy and it was Vivian's first zoo trip too. Aidan really seemed to enjoy it and she loves hanging out with Vivian.

7 random things...

Here we go again...

Tagged by Amanda C.

1. I hate all coffee products and yet worked in a coffee shop for two years.

2. I have an irrational fear of cruises. (the boat trips not Tom, although he is frightening as well)

3. I am much more organized at work than I am at home which makes me feel guilty.

4. I currently have to take 15 pills a day for my lovely thyroid. I am a drug mule. (Tom would not like this)

5. I very rarely spend more than $20 on shoes. Target and Payless my friends. I hope someone will carry me around if my feet fall off someday.

6. I am desperately afraid of snakes and spiders, I can't even watch them on TV or look at them in a magazine...I won't even sing Itsy Bitsy Spider to Aidan. What can I say, that movie Arachnophobia traumatized me for life.

7. Sometimes I think about trying to write but then I think wouldn't I already be writing? Hmm. I also have horrible grammar. Is that a good sentence? I don't even know.

I tag Mandy, Morgandi, Jayna, Lailah, and Tams. Feel free to ignore me.
